Which faucet development model better suits your product strategy?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"580\" data-end=\"695\">When developing a custom faucet, OEM and ODM should not be treated simply as two different levels of customization.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"697\" data-end=\"725\">The more useful question is:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"727\" data-end=\"787\"><strong data-start=\"727\" data-end=\"787\">How far is the existing product from the target product?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"789\" data-end=\"1008\">If a mature product platform already meets the required structure, installation method and basic functions, and only the finish, logo, accessories or certain visual details need to change, OEM may already be sufficient.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1010\" data-end=\"1157\">If the key difference of the new product depends on a new structure, new function or dedicated components, ODM begins to have more practical value.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1eu0dlb\" data-start=\"1159\" data-end=\"1212\">Start by Identifying What Actually Needs to Change<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1214\" data-end=\"1265\">Take a custom designed shower faucet as an example.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1267\" data-end=\"1544\">If the existing valve body, waterways and installation structure can remain unchanged, while the new positioning mainly comes from the handle, finish, shower combination and packaging, redesigning the internal structure will not automatically make the product more competitive.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1546\" data-end=\"1646\">In this case, targeted OEM development based on a mature product platform is usually more practical.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1648\" data-end=\"1925\">But if the design requires a different control method, new body proportions, a different outlet layout, or the existing structure already limits the intended appearance, continuing to modify mature components may gradually move the final product away from the original concept.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1927\" data-end=\"1965\">That is when ODM should be considered.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1967\" data-end=\"2070\">The important distinction is not simply <strong data-start=\"2007\" data-end=\"2036\">how much is being changed<\/strong>, but <strong data-start=\"2042\" data-end=\"2069\">where the changes occur<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2072\" data-end=\"2222\">Changing the logo, packaging or finish is not the same level of development as redesigning waterways, the main body or critical connection structures.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2224\" data-end=\"2335\">The first group of changes can usually build on an existing platform. The second may change the product itself.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"6eu0ig\" data-start=\"2337\" data-end=\"2415\">A Higher Product Position Does Not Automatically Require Full Redevelopment<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2417\" data-end=\"2501\">This is particularly easy to overlook when developing a luxury custom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yoroow.com\/nl\/\">shower faucet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2503\" data-end=\"2589\">A higher-positioned product does not mean every internal component must be redesigned.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2591\" data-end=\"2726\">In many cases, the differentiation comes from better overall proportions, finish quality, operating details and component combinations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2728\" data-end=\"2908\">If these changes can be achieved on a mature structure, keeping the existing platform can allow development resources to focus on the parts that genuinely affect the final product.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2910\" data-end=\"3078\">On the other hand, if the target appearance depends on changing the body dimensions or connection relationships, surface-level changes alone will not solve the problem.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"h2ahzb\" data-start=\"3080\" data-end=\"3147\">OEM and ODM Must Eventually Become a Concrete Manufacturing Plan<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3149\" data-end=\"3284\">In actual product development, the difference between OEM and ODM eventually needs to be translated into a specific manufacturing plan.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3286\" data-end=\"3567\">For a China faucet factory such as YOROOW that provides OEM\/ODM customization, if an existing product platform already meets the main structural and functional requirements, customization can focus on finish, configuration, appearance and other areas that genuinely need to change.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3569\" data-end=\"3728\">If the target design is already constrained by the existing structure, the next step is to evaluate whether new structures, components or tooling are required.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3730\" data-end=\"3799\">The value of manufacturing-side evaluation is to distinguish between:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3801\" data-end=\"3863\"><strong data-start=\"3801\" data-end=\"3863\">differences that can be achieved through a mature platform<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3865\" data-end=\"3868\">en<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3870\" data-end=\"3915\"><strong data-start=\"3870\" data-end=\"3915\">differences that require new development.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3917\" data-end=\"3982\">The goal is not simply to pursue a deeper level of customization.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1j9kfgp\" data-start=\"3984\" data-end=\"4051\">The Development Model Should Be the Result of Product Definition<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"4053\" data-end=\"4152\">Before deciding between OEM and ODM, compare the target product with the existing product platform.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4154\" data-end=\"4427\">Which structures already meet the requirements? Which areas must change? Are the changes mainly related to appearance and configuration, or do they affect waterways, installation and core components? Will the new development also support future products in the same series?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4429\" data-end=\"4515\">If most of the core structure can remain, OEM is usually the more reasonable approach.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4517\" data-end=\"4665\">If the most important product differences depend on features that the existing platform cannot achieve, ODM may be worth the additional development.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4667\" data-end=\"4730\">The choice between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yoroow.com\/nl\/\">OEM en ODM<\/a> should therefore not begin with:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4732\" data-end=\"4786\"><strong data-start=\"4732\" data-end=\"4786\">&#8220;How deeply do we want to customize this product?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4788\" data-end=\"4835\">It should begin with a more practical question:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4837\" data-end=\"4916\"><strong data-start=\"4837\" data-end=\"4916\">&#8220;Which parts actually need to be redeveloped to create the target product?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4918\" data-end=\"5108\">More development is not always better.
